Tomas Thorsson is a designer-maker working across mediums, combining handcraft with cutting-edge technologies. His practice utilizes AI, photography, painting, and off-cut materials, allowing him to relinquish control over specific parts of the creative process. This multidisciplinary approach invites serendipitous moments to emerge. By embracing randomness, Thorsson produces surprising results that breathe novelty into his work.
Thorsson realised the worth of handcraft while studying cabinet making in Iceland and Italy. Seeking to further his practice, he enrolled at Central Saint Martins in London and graduated with a master’s degree in design in 2021. There, he was exposed to innovative design and manufacturing technologies that continue to inspire his creative work. Thorsson now resides in London, where he combines the two worlds of handcraft and technology.
